| Dec 08 | A women’s story led recovery of the Australian film industryBy Lisa FrenchProducer Sue Maslin proposed “a women’s story led recovery of the Australian film industry” as a possibility at last nights WIFT AGM and panel discussion. If one considers winners of ‘AFI Best Film’ since 2000: Looking for Alibrandi, Rabbit-Proof Fence, Japanese Story, Somersault and Look Both Ways; or other successful award winning titles such as The Home Song Stories and The Jammed, then female centred narratives have been holding a beacon and many WIFT members think the industry should go towards the light!
