WIFT@MIAF In Production 2009
Each year MIAF surrenders control of one screening and one club event to WIFT – and we punch into this timeslot the best films made by women, and a forum presented by women animators in production. This year is our best yet with 14 films selected by our honorary panel of filmmakers and critics; Susan Stamp, Kelly McGillivray-Brown, Melinda O’Connor, and Terri Dentry.

After the screening enjoy a behind the scenes workshop at our Women in Production Forum in the Festival club space.

Susan McMinn, a Melbourne based Director, will talk about the making of her film in selection “The Last Warhorse”, followed by a showcase of props and special effects from Annette Ringrose, Manager and Props Maker for The Props Store. Special UK visitor to the Festival, Emma Curtis, will screen her film “The Reason I Collect” and show some behind the scenes footage from the making of her film.

Our speakers will be bringing along lots of props for you to see, touch and smell to inspire your next production, and are keen to answer questions so bring along those notebooks and fire away.

Show your MIAF ticket stub for a free glass of wine at the festival bar and stay as long as you like.

"PAPER DOLLS - Australian Pinups of World War 2" Screens on SBS Television - Friday 24th April at 7.30pm (Anzac Eve)

Written and Directed by ANGELA BUCKINGHAM and Produced by YVONNE COLLINS (WIFT Board Member & Treasurer)

PAPER DOLLS charts the growth of the Australian pinup through the recollections of three former Pinup girls (one amateur and two professional models) as well as a selection of World War 2 veterans who share how these pictures were morale boosters and uplifted their spirits during a frightening, desperate and lonely period of their lives.

PAPER DOLLS has also just been awarded a Certificate of Merit (History/Biography) at the 2009 Hugo Television Awards in Chicago.

We hope that you will be able to watch the documentary and let your families, friends and associates know about the screening.
